INTRODUCTION
Research & Innovation Development Cell of Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies deals with the policies, practices and outcomes of the institution, with reference to research & innovations. It deals with the amenities provided and efforts made by the TIAS to stimulate a ‘research culture’. The cell has the responsibility to enable students and faculty to undertake research projects worthwhile to the society. Serving the community through research, which is a social responsibility and a core value to be demonstrated is the major objective of this Cell. The Research and Innovation Development (R &I D) Cell of Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies facilitate and emboldens research ethos among the faculty and students. Its prime role is to create links with the factual world and stimulate research through a array of publications. It enables an amiable milieu for technological advances and monitors the research activities of the college. The R&ID Cell takes upon the responsibility of creating a work place to entice the utmost endowment and endeavors incessantly in pooling of skills and internal resources, forming strategy, overcoming curbs, and makes the Institute proud to be the preeminent institutions around the World.
OBJECTIVES
Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, Research & Innovation Development Cell (RID Cell) stimulate ‘Research Culture’ among the faculty and students and is responsible to enable faculty to undertake research projects worthwhile to the society, serving the community and also brings in basic traits of research & innovations in the research scholar to develop technical research paper, participation in conference and seminars, publishing paper in listed journals. The basic objectives of research and Innovation Cell are following:-
- To promote research culture in campus
- Develop sustainable Innovation Ecosystem
- Collaboration through MoUs with other educational, research, industry, NGOs
- Promoting Research Publications & Research Awards
- Undertaking Consultancy & Projects on Thrust Areas
- Propagating Resource Mobilization for Research
FUNCTIONS
- To create fervor amongst students and faculty members towards research and innovation.
- To explore various areas of research.
- To work diligently with the industrial needs that eventually will result in new or enhanced products, processes, systems or services that can enhance the company’s yield.
- To foster collaborations for mutual benefits and to exploit industrial connectivity.
- To establish alliance with other universities, public and private sectors in Research & Innovation.
- To identify R&D project including consultancy services which could be undertaken at the institution.
- To revitalize research in various departments of the Institute.
- To confirm efficient functioning and effective management of R&D at the institution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research Innovation Development Cell shall endorse research and development activities by inspiring students and faculty members for publishing research papers.
- To motivate faculty members and students to get patents for their works.
- To organize regular seminars and workshops on Research Methodology & innovations.
STRUCTURE
Research & Innovation Development Cell structure of Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies can maintain a closer contact with the work field. It helps keep the academic activities in the Institute in a more realistic perspective. R&ID structure encompasses in executive committee, faculty research committee and student research committee.

Exploration and reflection are vital for any Faculty to be effective in one’s job. Quality research outcome is valuable for the discipline, society, industry, region and the nation. Sharing of knowledge especially theoretical and practical findings of research through various media enhances quality of teaching and learning. Research acumen in Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies is an evolving feature reflecting various research output with clear records such as – doctoral, projects, inventions and discoveries, number of patents obtained and number of research publications.

THE ROLE OF RESERACH COMMITTEE
- To develop and endure close links with industry to stimulate technical exchange and collaboration on projects with significant potential for future growth.
- To develop a conducive atmosphere in which faculty, staff, and students can work together proficiently and grow professionally.
- To maintain excellence and stimulate multidisciplinary research amongst faculty, students.
- To provide assessment for proposals and engage review committee and scrutiny committee.

ROLE OF FACULTY RESERACH COMMITTEE
- Faculty Research committee selected by R&ID Chair, represents R&ID coordinator from every department, it precisely work for faculty of Institute and motivate the faculty of the Institute in achieving the objectives of R&ID.
- Endorse faculty to write effective research proposals for funding agencies.
- Direction to faulty members in order to raise the standard in academic and research activities
- Motivate faculty to organize and attend conference/STTP/workshops/ Seminars/Training/ FDP.
- Create cognizance among faculty for publication, research contribution and patents
- Execution of research initiatives planned by Chair R &ID.
ROLE OF STUDENT RESERACH COMMITTEE
- Research committee selected by R&ID which represents R&ID coordinator from every department, it specifically work for students of Institute.
- To apprise the students about the booming technological innovations and the future prospects of their survival in the industry.
- Conducting the events categorized into workshops, seminars in Research Methodology
- Unfolding and paving way to the talents hidden among the students.
- Endorse and motivate students to organise and attend conference/workshops/ Seminars in Research Methodology Student
- Facilitating faculty research committee in execution of research initiatives planned by Chair R&D.

PROMOTION OF RESEARCH & FACILITIES
The promotion of research is a significant responsibility of Research & Innovation Development Cell of Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies. The R & ID Cell is actively engaged in this through evolving appropriate policies and practices, making adequate resources available, encouraging active research involvement of Faculties and Students in research as well as recognizing any achievement of Faculties through research. It includes responsiveness and administrative supportiveness in the institution in exploiting the supports and resources available at the Institute. It collaborates with other agencies, institutions, research bodies for sharing research facilities and undertaking collaborative research.
INNOVATION ECO-SYSTEM
Research & Innovation Development of Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies has created an ecosystem for innovation including incubation centre and other initiatives for creation and transfer of knowledge. The institution organizes workshop/seminars on Research Methodology, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Industry-Academia Innovative practices. Awards for innovation won by institution/teachers/research scholars/students, start-ups incubated on-campus are acclaimed by the institution.
RESOURCE MOBILISATION FOR RESEARCH
Research & Innovation Development Cell of Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies provides support in terms of financial, academic and human resources required and timely administrative decisions to assist faculty to submit project proposals and approach funding agencies for mobilizing resources for research. The institutional support to its faculty for submitting research projects and securing external funding through flexibility in administrative processes and infrastructure and academic support are vital for any institution to excel in research. The faculties are authorized to take up research activities utilizing the existing facilities. The institution encourages its staff to engross in interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research activities and resource sharing.
CONSULTANCY
Consultancy in Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies is organized and managed by the faculties with the support of Research & Innovation Development Cell for an external agency for which the proficiency and the precise knowledge base of the faculty becomes the key input. The faculty taking up consultancy is appropriately rewarded. Consultancy shows the credibility of the TIAS Faculties research acumen in the outer world. Research & Innovation Development Cell generates some revenue through the consultancy taken by research faculty. The Institute has a formalized policy on consultancy with clear specification of revenue sharing between the Faculty and the institution.
