Dramatics Club

Introduction

Dramatics Club is designed for students interested in learning more about the aspects of theater. However, theater is the technique through which you are taught to work in groups to discover and manage the capacity of pupils, students and their resources through voice, gestures, mimicry, body language, and textual interpretation. This creates valuable and necessary spaces in the consolidation of the individual-group relationship specifically this club works for the development and formation of personality of pupils and students. On the other hand, it gives them a broader cultural formation. Through the dramatizing process, produces and finalizes an aesthetic, artistic and spectacular product through artistic performances, theater, and final organizational discipline.

MISSION

The mission of Mridang Theatre Society is to Inspire the youth to dream, Investigate and Think. Last but not least connect the world of imagination into reality. Develops innovative and courageous artists and creative leaders for tomorrow. We bring the stories to our lives in such a way that inspires the students to think about what they are and what they can become, to explore a story from thousands of different perspectives, and to think in such a way so that the audience can connect with our ideas. Our acts encourage the youth to motivate and question in this complex world so that they grow up healthier, smarter and with a feeling of kindliness, and to understand what’s right and wrong.

Vision

The vision of Mridang Theatre Society is to change the personalities of the young generation and the general public into imaginative, inquisitive and energetic beings and promoting understanding, and nurturing compassion.

OBJECTIVES

Our goal is to keep up with the inventiveness and to be associated with our foundations. To expand the creative mind of the youthful personalities. To change ourselves and the general public into a superior spot and to serve our ethical obligation towards the general public.
  1. To engage productivity in the collaborative process.
  2. To build intellectual and aesthetic understanding of the craft and technique of theatre arts.
  3. To develop an appreciation of and respect for the various roles/aspects inherent within the theatrical process.
  4. To explore the diversity of theatre and its intersection with community, culture and society.
  5. To produce diverse productions that challenge students and engage the university community.

Rules & Regulations

Rules and Regulations that are to be followed are listed below:

  1. You must come to the practices every time you are called. If you cannot come inform President/Heads/Responsible person.
  2. Being on time is a must!
  3. Give 100% at practices.
  4. Have an open mind and listen to what the instructions are asked to follow. Be willing to try new things!
  5. No nuisance will be tolerated. Anyone, not cooperating, will be pulled out of the competition.
  6. Every Saturday, the team will be going to perform their play in a slum or any street area where a good crowd can get the message.

Dramatics Club activities are categories as

  1. One-Act Plays
  2. Street Plays
  3. Mono Acting

A. One-Act Plays

  1. Maximum Time: 45 minutes (including stage set up and stage clearance)
  2. Maximum of 18 participants per team.
  3. Props allowed. (only 2 tables and 2 chairs will be provided by the coordinators, if required.
  4. Teams must bring all other props on their own)

B. Street Plays

  1. Maximum number of participants per team: 22 (including accompanists/instrumentalists), minimum 10 participants.
  2. Use of make-up, lights and mikes not allowed
  3. Time Limit: 20+2 minutes (including set up)
  4. Props allowed (lathi, dry colors, placards, etc).
  5. Use of any electronic gadget, fire, smoke machine, or any other bulky props not allowed.
  6. Play may be on any social cause.

C. Mono Acting

  1. Individual participation.
  2. Time limit: 4 + 1 minutes
  3. Judgment will be based on qualities like idea,creativity of presentation, use of makeup, music and general impression

Note:

  1. Negative marks for exceeding time limit.
  2. All the accompanists and participants must be of same college. No outsiders allowed.
  3. The teams should carry an official letter from their respective institute signed by the competent authority
