Introduction
Photography is much more than just having a camera and taking pictures. It is both an art and science. It is not just clicking the photographs. It reflects the vision of a person towards a subject. It is a gift to shoot what our eyes wishes to capture. Students in this photography club have opportunities to hone their skills by understanding and learning about what makes a good photograph, from composition to artistic expression. Members of this club will learn how to use state of the art software to edit and enhance photographic images for their own use, as well as for publication. All levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to explore this exciting side of the visual arts.
Photography is becoming a wonderful hobby and has proved to be very popular among the students. It is a journey of heliography, pinhole image to the digital mirrorless and drone cameras. This club is established to inculcate the passion towards photography and make it a congregational platform.
The aim of this club is to explore the keen and creative mind of students towards photography and make them camera friendly along with its various facets and relate it to aspects of print/electronic production and corporate communication. This would cover every point from IMAGINATION to REALITY. The intention is to create an insight into issues that concern learners who may be willing to be media professionals, digital designers, photographers, communicators, advertisers or any other users of various facets of print/electronic media.
Mission
To promote photographic interest among students and provide a place with an interest in photography to meet and exchange ideas and share experiences. Therefore, aim and mission of this club to develop the students professionally advanced in photography.
Vision
- To foster a love of the art of photography among the students of TIAS.
- To achieve a more fruitful alliance between the beginner and the experienced photographer.
- To provide a supportive environment for interested photography students to share their creativity, knowledge and passion for photography.
Objectives
- To organise workshops on photography and photojournalism.
- To provide opportunities to share the experiences and skills of some expert photographers and photojournalists to the Club.
- To cover various events within the institute & participation in external competitions.
- To Conduct frequent, inter/intra college photography contests.
- To get participated in various programmes introduced by Nikon, Canon and other photo studios.
- To promote the development of photographic art and technique by providing opportunities for the students and doing discussions and exchange of ideas and information.
- To facilitate specialised training workshops and practical demonstrations of photography techniques.
- To do a photo walk during educational field trips of photographic interest and social events.
- To promote the club and its members through the display of photography on digital Media and social sites.
- To Create a repository of exclusive pictures shot by the members for Educational & Research purpose.
PROGRAMME OFFICER’S
History
Tecnia Photography Club was started by Mr. Rahul Mittal under the Department of Journalism way back in 2006 in order to give students a platform for enhancing their photography skills. Students of BJMC were introduced to do photography and videography in the events of Tecnia in order to give them a live exposure.
- In 2012, the club was given the name Tecnia TV Journalism Club with the objective to enhance skills in photography and videography.
- In 2014, the name Tecnia TV Journalism Club was changed to Online Film and Photograhy Club.
- In 2017, the name Online Film and Photograhy Club was changed to Photography and Videography Club.
- In 2019, the club was named as Tecnia Photography Club.
Outcomes
- Students would be able to showcase their work on global platforms.
- They would be able to compete in international photography competitions.
- They would be best photo journalist and showcase themselves in the industry.
- Through participation in various competitions and events, a confidence would develop among to do coverage of any event and do compete any kind of international event.
- Workshops and expert lectures would help them to learn the minute delicacies of photo capturing.
- Webcasting of clicked photos by club members will help them to create an identity at global level.
- Photo walks would be helpful to them to imagine beyond reality and capture the photos with new ideas and imagination.
- Repository of pictures would be helpful for research and analysis purpose in future.
Rule & Regulations
Rules and Regulations that are to be followed are listed below:
- Any student who has a flare of doing Photography can join the club.
- Any student who wants to be a reporter in Television Industry can join the club.
