COMPUTER CENTERS

INTRODUCTION

The Central Computer Centre is running under the aegis of Department of Computer Science and Engineering to provide facilities and support in terms of Computers, Networks and Information Systems to whole of the Institute. The Computer Center is providing centralized computing facilities to the whole college beyond the college hours. Students and staff from all the branches use the Computer Center facilities for Internet surfing and academic work. The Computer Center is equipped with 100 Mbps (1:1 pure)

Leased Line Internet Connectivity which provides Internet facilities to the whole college. The bandwidth is procured from two different Internet Service Providers to achieve the redundancy. The Computer Center has its own three labs having more than 200 Desktop Computers / Workstations. The Center has High End Servers and Workstations and Load Balancing Servers has been deployed. The applications like Learning Content Management System (Moodle) has been deployed for online and offline teaching is managed and backed by Computer Centre. The Computer Centre hosts and provide the web conferencing solution like Big Blue Button, Jitsi, Google Meet (Google Edu) using Single Sign On (SSO) for online classes through Moodle (guru.gndec.ac.in). Computer Centre also hosts and maintains a portal for interaction with college's alumni at social.gndec.ac.in. The servers are equipped with latest hardware like NVM Express or Non-Volatile Memory, Host Controller Interface which is logical-device interface specification for accessing a computer's non-volatile storage media. The College has its own Mail Server (mail.gndec.ac.in) and Web Server (gndec.ac.in) which are managed by Central Computer Center along with Authentication Server, File Server and Others. Firewall is installed for Content Filtering, Monitoring and Threat Management. The entire campus is connected to the Internet through Wired and Wi-fi network. The Three Tier Network of Core, Distribution and Access is designed with High Plane Brocade Switches along with Ruckus Access Points and Controller for Wi-fi connectivity. The 10G Network spread over the 87 Acres of Campus is on Fiber Optics as Backbone. The whole infrastructure is on uninterrupted power supply, in case of failure, the dedicated Genset power supply is also available. Computer Center is covered in approximate 300 Square Meters. At present Pf. Jasbir Singh Saini is the Officer Incharge Computer Centre.
