Tecnia Varchasva 2024 - 25

Varchasva 2024 is an annual celebration of creativity, talent, and media excellence. This year, we have curated a diverse range of competitions that will give participants an opportunity to showcase their skills across various domains. The categories for participation include Creative Writing, Debate, RJ Hunt, JAM, Photography Competition, Poster making, Poetry Recitation, Street Play, Mono Act, Fashion Parade, Mr. & Ms. Varchasva 2024, Rap Battle, Solo Singing, Stand-up Comedy, Group Dance, Solo Dance, Folk Dance.

Objectives

  1. Promote creativity and talent by providing a platform for students to showcase their artistic skills.
  2. Encourage cultural exchange and unity through diverse performances, competitions, and activities.
  3. Foster teamwork and collaboration among students from different colleges through interactive cultural events.
  4. Celebrate diversity and inclusivity by highlighting a wide range of cultural expressions and traditions.
  5. Nurture leadership and organizational skills by involving students in event management and coordination.
  6. Inspire artistic innovation and creativity through exposure to a variety of art forms and performances.

Welcome to “Vyakt,” the Literary Society of our college, where words come alive and ideas flourish! We are a passionate community of thinkers, writers, and orators dedicated to exploring the vast world of literature and expression. Our mission is to cultivate a love for language and encourage creativity through various literary activities.

General rules:

  1. All participants shall carry an identity card approved by the college.
  2. The participant(s) not carrying identity cards shall not be allowed to participate in the concerned event.
  3. All the teams/participants should report at the venue an hour before of scheduled time for the commencement of the event.
  4. The decision of the judges shall be final.
  5. Props, dresses, stationary, special equipment, etc will not be provided by the organizer
  6. Organizers will not be responsible for the loss of any personal belongings of the participants.
  7. Any participants found involved in acts of indiscipline or misconduct shall be liable for disciplinary action.
  8. Preliminary rounds will be held online.

Rules & Regulations

Solo Singing

  1. Individual participation.
  2. Duration of the performance shall be between 3-4 minutes.
  3. Language is not a factor in selection of songs for participants.
  4. Participants must submit their BGM/ karaoke tracks in advance.
  5. A maximum of two instrumentalists may accompany a vocalist.
  6. Violation of rules will lead to disqualification.
  7. Judgment will be made on the basis of song selection, voice quality, range/pitch and Rhythm/tempo and overall impression.
Rap Battle

  1. The duration of the performance shall be between 3-4 minutes.
  2. Language is not a factor in selection of songs for participants.
  3. Negative marking on the use of any abusive language.
  4. There will be two rounds. the first round will be individual and the second will be a faceoff.
Solo Dance (Classical & Western)

  1. Time limit: 2-3 minutes.
  2. Participants should submit their song to the event coordinators before the event.
  3. No songs restrictions, participants can choose Bollywood songs.
  4. Individual should bring their own props, costumes and make up.
  5. Judgment will be based on costumes, expressions, and choreography.
  6. There are no restrictions on the number of entries per college.
  7. The judge’s decision will be the final call.
Folk Dance

  1. Time limit: 6-10 minutes.
  2. Team size should be a minimum of 6 members and a maximum of 15 members.
  3. Participants should submit their song to the event coordinators before the event.

  6. There are no restrictions on the number of entries per college.
  7. The judge’s decision will be the final call.
  8. There should be no vulgarity in the performance.
Group Dance (Western)

  1. Participants must submit high-resolution digital images in a specified format (e.g., JPEG)
  2. Each submission must be accompanied by a brief concept note explaining the creative vision behind the photograph.
  3. Image editing is not allowed, manipulation will result in disqualification.
  4. Participants must own the copyright to all submitted images.
  5. Images will be judged on the basis of creativity, composition, technical quality, storytelling, and adherence to the theme.
  6. 2-3 Participants are allowed from every institution.
Mono Acting

  1. Time limit: 2-3 minutes.
  2. Online registration is compulsory.
  3. Costumes and props to be arranged by the participating team themselves.
  4. Musical instruments (If any) to be arranged and music to be brought in a pen-drive by the participants. However, in type case of live music, organizers have to be notified beforehand and the organizers will not take any responsibility or its safety/ security of personal equipment brought by them.
  5. Decision of the judges shall be final and bindings.
Street Play

  1. The theme of the play must clearly illustrate and reveal a social issue.
  2. Team should consist of 12-20 members.
  3. The timings of the play shall not exceed 22 minutes. Violating the rule will lead to a negative marking.
  4. Warning bell: 20 min
  5. Final bell: 22 min
  6. Team can use English/Hindi/Urdu. Foul language is prohibited.
  7. Maximum number of team will be 10, hence the selection of the team will be based on a first come first served basis.
  8. Usage of their own banners, posters, musical instruments and props are allowed and are to be carried by the teams themselves. The usage of electrical instruments is prohibited.
  9. The event will be held in an open area and mics, lights or any such electrical instruments won’t be provided by the host college.
  10. All the teams must take responsibility of their own assets.
  11. Decisions made by the judges shall be final.
Mr & Ms. Varchasva

*Only for TIAS students*

  1. There will be one girl for Ms. Varchasva and one boy for Mr. Varchasva.
  2. The finals will have an introduction round followed by ramp walk and then, a talent round and a question answer round.
  3. Selection will be done by eminent personalities in the field of art and culture.
  4. No outsiders allowed.
Fashion Parade

  1. All the participants of a team must be of the same college.
  2. Minimum 22 to maximum of 25 participants should be there per team. In addition, if required there should be one person in charge of music and one for the lights.
  3. On-stage time for each team is limited to a minimum of 10 minutes to a maximum of 15 minutes.
  4. The stage should not remain empty for more than a minute in between the sequence.
  5. Judgment will be based on presentation, walk, dressing, and attitude.
  6. Music system will be provided. The teams are expected to bring their own piece of music for the sequence.
  7. All clothes and accessories are to be arranged for by the participating team. The organizing committee is responsible only for the infrastructural facilities.
  8. Any form of obscenity will result in disqualification of the team for further participation.
  9. Any fault with the track is not our responsibility.
RJ Hunt

  1. Participants have to prepare their scripts on social issues prevailing in society.
  2. Time limit: 120 seconds for each contestant
  3. Exceeding the time limit will lead to disqualification
  4. Participants will be judged on the basis of fluency, spontaneity, presentation, sense of humor, communication skills and interaction with the listeners.
  5. Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  6. Use of indecent words and foul language will lead to disqualification.
  7. Poetry
  8. The poem to be performed must be original.
  9. Individual participation.
  10. Maximum time limit for the poem recitation is 5 minutes. Excess time consumption would lead to negative marking.
Debate

  1. Each speaker would be given 3+1 minutes to speak.
  2. If a speaker crosses the limit s/he may lose marks.
