  BACKGROUND & THEME

Presently the emerging markets are increasingly providing special attention to the multinational companies to boost up their economies. These nations, where the populations have been starved for comforts of modern life styles, provide a huge virgin market to MNCs for expansion of their business interests.

With increasing business operations on global dimensions, there has been a huge demand for business managers to steer the expansion and management of new arenas of business. Till last decade, this function was in the exclusive domain of western managers. However, with opening up of the economies and globalization, in this new millennium; Indian business managers have chalked out their success stories globally, mainly due to their perseverance, intelligence and will to succeed.

Having made their niche on international platforms, this set of managers are doing equally well in domestic markets. Consequently, current day Indian managers are proving themselves to be highly successful in any business under fast changing environment and even at hostile locations, where other nationals are not ready to venture out.

Indian Managers are making waves all across the world and they have proved all dooms- day prophecies wrong and on the contrary have flourished under current fast changing Environment.

The liberalization of Indian economy since 1990s has also generated large domestic demand for managerial cadre. To meet this requirement, Indian educational system has contributed by setting up additional management schools and by increasing the intakes. However, international quality standards at the institutions are still a far cry. Selectively, adequate numbers of high caliber managers are being made available by the system to carter for this ever increasing demand for home and international markets. Executive Training programmes and MDPs are being developed to bridge the gap between national and international managerial traits and to match the current status.
